Academic Background

Fabian holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics with a focus on Experimental Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology from RWTH Aachen University. Particularly in his Master's degree, he dealt with the use of advanced analytics and big data methods in data analysis at CERN. Fabian started his doctorate in management with Prof. Engelen at the TU Dortmund and followed him to HHU Düsseldorf.

Professional Background

During his studies Fabian worked as a teacher for physics and computer science at the university and completed several physical internships, among others at CERN in Geneva. He also developed front- and backend applications for a platform-independent data analysis framework. Since 2016 Fabian has been working as a consultant for digitalization and IT at an international management consultancy. In addition, Fabian has been working as a teacher at the Chair of Prof. Engelen since he started his doctorate.

Research Focus

For his research, Fabian combines his experience in IT and data analysis with the perspective of management and conducts research in the field of IT management. Using multiple secondary data sources and advanced analytics, he looks at the prerequisites and implications of IT capabilities on large enterprises and their CIOs.
