Academic Background

Anna holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the Duale Hochschule Ravensburg and an M.Sc. (Hons) in Finance and Information Management from the TU Munich and the University of Augsburg. During her degree she also studied at Edinburgh Napier University in the UK and conducted research at NHH Bergen in Norway. She started her doctoral studies at TU Dortmund University under Prof. Engelen and successfully completed them in March 2021 at HHU Düsseldorf.

Professional Background

Anna is Head of Operations at the machine learning startup deepset (www.deepset.ai). She is responsible for business issues (human resources, finance, strategy). Previously, she worked as a management consultant at McKinsey and as a risk manager for offshore wind farms at EnBW. At the beginning of her professional career, she completed a dual study program at a German energy provider. Anna also volunteers to advise social projects through startsocial. As part of her employment at HHU Düsseldorf, she is responsible for the course "Data Science for Business".

Research Focus

As part of her research, Anna examines factors influencing the management of corporate crises in listed companies, e.g. CEO personality or crisis communication. She works with extensive secondary data and uses classical methods such as regression analysis as well as methods in the field of machine learning.
