Academic Background
Sophia holds a B.Sc. in International Business from Maastricht University in The Netherlands with a semester abroad at University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. Furthermore, she gained her M.Sc. in Management at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management with a semester abroad at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the chair of Prof. Engelen at the HHU Düsseldorf.
Professional Background
During her studies, Sophia completed various internships and working student activities in diverse industries with a focus on business development, marketing and consulting. Since 2020 she has been working for an international strategy consulting firm in Cologne. Here, Sophia mainly served clients in the consumer and retail practice area and worked on projects along the entire value chain.
Research Focus
As part of her research, Sophia investigates founder and team characteristics in the realm of decentralized pre-seed financing of innovative tech-startups. She plans to work with secondary data.
