Academic Background
Vincent holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management with a focus on Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt. He spent time abroad at the University of Otago in New Zealand, specializing in Strategic and Innovation Management. In his two Master's theses Vincent focused on the applications of Machine Learning in manufacturing (TU Darmstadt) and the optimization of the Routing and Scheduling of Autonomous Boats (MIT). In August 2021, Vincent started his doctorate at the Chair of Prof. Engelen at the HHU.
Professional Background
During his studies, Vincent completed several internships in both the drive and control sector as well as consulting firms, including a six months internship in Singapore. For his Master's thesis Vincent worked in an interdisciplinary team at the Senseable City Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, US. Since 2019 Vincent has been working as Digital Strategy Consultant for an international management consulting firm in Frankfurt. Vincent is currently enrolled as doctoral student at the Chair of Prof. Engelen at the HHU.
Research Focus
The application areas of Machine Learning have steadily increased in recent years and its results have gotten better and better (e.g., in the area of text classification). However, there are still hurdles in using Machine Learning in academic research, for instance, regarding the procedures of applying suitable algorithms. In the context of his research activities Vincent, therefore, investigates the application of Machine Learning in management research. Vincent plans to work with secondary data.
